Looking to buy sailing blocks? At 123Furling you will find a complete range of Seldén blocks for every type of sailing yacht. From compact single blocks for light lines to powerful triple blocks for heavy sheet systems, we have the right block for your application. All blocks are delivered with the renowned Seldén quality: robust, lightweight and built to last for years at sea.

Choosing the right sailing block

Choosing the right block starts with your application. How much load does the block need to handle? What line diameter are you using? Do you need a fixed, swivel or rotating attachment point? And how many sheaves are required for the desired mechanical advantage? These are the key questions that determine which block best suits your situation.

At 123Furling we offer three categories of sailing blocks, each designed for specific applications on board:

  • Single blocks: one sheave, ideal for simple redirections and light purchases. Available in the BBB (ball bearing), PBB (plain bearing), RBB (roller bearing) and S (tie-on) series.
  • Double blocks: two sheaves for purchase systems with higher mechanical advantage. Perfect for sheets, halyards and other applications requiring extra power.
  • Triple blocks: three sheaves for maximum mechanical advantage. Essential in mainsheet systems and heavy purchases on mid-sized to larger yachts.

Seldén block series explained

Seldén offers four different block series, each with its own bearing type that determines which applications the block is best suited for.

The BBB series (Ball Bearing Blocks) uses stainless steel ball bearings. These are the most versatile blocks in the range, suitable for both static and dynamic loads. The ball bearings ensure minimal friction, even under high load. This makes BBB blocks ideal for sheets, halyards and all applications where smooth operation is essential. Available in sizes from BBB 20 (for lines Ø2-6 mm) to BBB 60 (for lines Ø6-10 mm).

The PBB series (Plain Bearing Blocks) features plain bearings and offers excellent value for money. Plain bearings are particularly strong under static loads and have a longer lifespan under heavy, constant forces. PBB blocks are available from PBB 50 (for lines Ø8-12 mm) to PBB 100 (for lines Ø8-12 mm), making them perfect for larger yachts with thicker lines.

The RBB series (Roller Bearing Blocks) combines the smooth operation of ball bearings with the load capacity of roller bearings. These premium blocks are designed for the heaviest applications on board. RBB blocks are supplied as swivel models, ideal for large sheets and halyards where maximum performance is required.

The S series offers a unique tie-on attachment using a Dyneema loop instead of a D-shackle. This results in the lowest weight and makes them perfect for weight-conscious sailors and racing boats.

Variants and accessories

Within each series, blocks are available in numerous variants to meet your specific needs. Blocks with a D-shackle are quick to mount and versatile. Models with a becket provide an additional attachment point for starting a purchase system. Blocks with a cam cleat allow the line to be cleated immediately after trimming, ideal as an end block in a sheet system.

Additionally, blocks are available as fixed models (for fixed attachment points), swivel models (the block rotates to follow the line direction) and fixed/swivel models (switchable with a bushing). Through-deck models and blocks attached with a Dyneema loop complete the range.
